HRA for the Havant Core Strategy
Client: Havant Borough Council
Project: HRA for the Havant Core Strategy
Work on the Core Strategy HRA began in early 2009, and first focused on the likely significant effects the plan could have on a diversity coastal and marine sites of international national nature conservation importance. Several potentially significant effects operating at a sub-regional scale were identified, including atmospheric pollution, disturbance from recreation, water abstraction, water quality, and loss of intertidal or supporting habitats to development and coastal squeeze.
Several amendments were made to the spatial strategy and fine detail of the plan during the appropriate assessment stages. Successfully engaging with Natural England and other nature conservation bodies throughout the assessment and plan-making processes was vital to the success of the project, and culminated in the plan being found sound by the Inspector in December 2010.
Our team have prepared several HRAs in Hampshire, for clients including Havant Borough, Portsmouth City, Gosport Borough, Fareham Borough, Southampton City, Hampshire County, Winchester City and East Hampshire District Councils.
