Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys – Renewable Energy Developments

Client: Renewable Energy Developers

Throughout 2012 to 2014 we worked closely with a range of renewable energy developers to provide advice on the ecological value of proposed sites, and the ecological impacts of development.  We visited many and varied sites, from the West Country to East Anglia, South Coast to the Grampians, and Powys to the Humberside.

The brief was to make an assessment of the habitats at each site, the presence or potential presence of protected species that could be negatively affected, and make recommendations on the design and layout of development to reduce or eliminate impacts.

The developments themselves seek to make the best use of available land and buildings to meet renewable energy targets, while simultaneously improving the sustainability of existing site operations, using a range of technologies including wind turbines, solar PV and anaerobic digestion.

  • Our Clients

We use Urban Edge Environmental for ecological appraisal services for our renewable energy projects across the UK, and have always found them extremely professional and able to meet tight timescales on site visits and reporting. More importantly, they are able to unpick complex ecological issues that allow a sensible route forwards for our developments. Thanks for all your help these last few years.
