East Hampshire Green Infrastructure Study

Client: East Hampshire District Council
This project drew together and mapped available information and knowledge relating to green and blue spaces within and around East Hampshire District. It assessed the need for GI and identified opportunities and constraints.
A policy framework for GI was prepared at a district level that maintains and enhances GI. The project identifies the contribution GI can and must make to the mitigation of potential impacts of growth on Natura 2000 sites in and around the district. Together with work on the Whitehill Bordon Eco-town, this information provides an evidence base on how and why visitors use the European sites within the District and identifies specific mitigation provision for recreational impacts on these European sites.
The Study works closely with the spirit of the South Downs National Park’s management principles and identifies alternative greenspace, potential projects and proposals throughout the district, and the broad justifications underpinning them. The Study also includes an evaluation of funding sources and future management including identifying potential partners.
