Poppy joined our ecology team as a part-time assistant ecologist in April 2025 whilst completing her Integrated Masters degree in Zoology at the University of Sussex.  Following the submission of her thesis, Poppy joined the ecology team full-time in May 2025.

During this time, Poppy has gained experience in bat emergence surveys and transects, as well as badger, reptile, dormouse, otter and water vole, GCN eDNA, torch, and bottle trapping surveys.  She has also produced reports for small-scale development projects, including PRA, reptile, and badger protected species reports.

Her Masters thesis was carried out on Malling Down Nature Reserve in Lewes and investigated how the population dynamics of butterflies have changed over time and how these changes correlate to fluctuations in climate using data collected from 1984 to 2022.

Whilst studying, Poppy also worked freelance as an assistant ecologist for two seasons in a different ecological consultancy, working specifically on bat emergence surveys and GCN torch surveys.

In her free time, Poppy enjoys playing badminton, and long winter hikes followed by a warm fire and a good film.
