We Are Recruiting: Senior Environmental Consultant

This position would ideally be full-time, but part time will be considered for the right individual. Remote working for part of the week can be accommodated.  Please note this role is open only to those with eligibility to work in UK at this time.

Role Overview

Our environmental planning team focuses on the delivery of environmental assessments to support local plan-making as well as projects seeking planning permission. We work with a range of clients from across the private and public sectors, for clients including local planning authorities, statutory agencies, landowners, and private developers. We specialise in Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment, Habitats Regulations Assessment (including nutrient neutrality assessment) and Environmental Impact Assessment.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, senior environmental consultant with at least 3+ years professional experience in the private or public sector to strengthen the capacity and expertise within our friendly team. As part of a small and expanding team, the role offers a fantastic opportunity for personal growth and development with opportunities for hands-on involvement at all stages of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking site assessments
  • Contributing to high quality environmental assessment reports
  • Day to day client liaison
  • Liaising with project team members and attending client and stakeholder meetings
  • Providing technical guidance and support to junior team members
  • Contributing to business development activities, including bid-writing

Requirements

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in environmental science or a related discipline, and
  • MSc in a relevant field
  • Thorough knowledge of UK legislation and technical guidance in relation to environmental assessment, planning and nature conservation
  • Demonstrable track record in producing high quality written reports suitable for public consultation
  • Membership/Chartership within the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or similar professional institute
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately to internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and through written communication
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Numeric literacy, and good capability with common computer applications

Desired Experience

  • Use of GIS software, particularly ArcGIS
  • Working with a range of environmental disciplines
  • Business development in the environmental sector, bid preparation and sales

Salary range: £35K – £45k, commensurate with experience
