We Are Recruiting: Graduate Environmental Consultant (temporary internship leading to possible permanent role)

We’re currently advertising a new opportunity to join our small, dynamic and expanding environmental consultancy.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for a graduate environmental consultant looking for their next challenge. This position would ideally be full time but a part time alternative would be considered for the right individual. The position is temporary for at least six weeks with a view to becoming permanent if successfully completed.

We are seeking an individual with post-graduate qualifications in the following field:

  • Environmental assessment and management

Individuals with post-graduate or graduate qualifications in one or more of the following related fields may also apply:

  • GIS and environmental management
  • Water and environmental management
  • Ecology / applied ecology
  • Environmental sciences


The role will be office-based and duties would include contributing to desk-based environmental planning and assessment projects, including Sustainability Appraisals, Strategic Environmental Assessments and Habitats Regulations Assessments of local planning documents, as well as administrative duties.

Role Requirements

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in environmental assessment or a related discipline
  • An MSc in a relevant subject would be highly beneficial
  • Good working knowledge of UK legislation in relation to environmental assessment, planning and nature conservation
  • Excellent written English, good communication skills and numeric literacy and good capability with common computer applications.
  • Experience in producing high quality written reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately to internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and through written communication

Desired Experience

  • Experience of contributing to Sustainability Appraisal / Strategic Environmental Assessment projects would make you an ideal candidate
  • Use of GIS software, particularly ArcGIS
  • Working with other environmental disciplines
