Habitats Regulations Assessment for the Southampton City Centre Action Plan

Client: Southampton City Council

We were appointed by Southampton City Council in early 2011 to prepare a Habitats Regulations Assessment for the City Centre Action Plan (CCAP).

A key document within the City’s Local Development Framework, the AAP is the delivery vehicle for almost all the City’s employment and retails development, and a large proportion of new homes over the next twenty years.

Consequently, there is clear potential for the plan to contribute to both strategic and site-specific impacts at several nearby European sites.  The HRA establishes the nature and severity of these potential impacts, and devises means for their avoidance.

Outcome

The CCAP was successfully adopted in March 2015.

  • Our Clients

We commissioned UEEC to do the Habitat Regulations Assessment for Southampton’s City Centre Action Plan, which promotes major development relatively close to a number of international ecology designations. We’re very happy with the quality of work UEEC produced, which was also on time and on budget.
