Between 2008 and 2011 Urban Edge Environmental Consulting team members contributed to the Ecological Impact Assessment of the Brentford Lock West mixed residential site in west London. The outline planning application concerned the comprehensive redevelopment of the site referred to as Brentford Lock West.

Approach

The 6.25 ha site included part of the Grand Union Canal and part of Robin Grove Recreation Ground.

The scope of ecological baseline work included extended Phase 1 habitat survey, aquatic invertebrate surveys, bat surveys, and botanical surveys. Invasive species (giant hogweed) were encountered.

Successful mitigation strategies were prepared including local green infrastructure enhancement.

Outcome

The application was successfully consented.
